About me

I’m a native of Nashville, TN, which I still call home. I have the pleasure of being a faculty member at Fisk University, where I am the chair of the Arts & Languages department and teach American literature. In addition to my primary research in 19th-century literature and literature of the U.S. South, I also entertain an interest in studying comics and sequential art, particularly graphic adaptations of early American texts.
